Sie ist unter anderem mit dem Landesverdienstorden von Berlin f\u00fcr ihr b\u00fcrgerschaftliches Engagement ausgezeichnet worden. Hassoun hat zahlreiche Initiativen und Projekte mitgegr\u00fcndet, darunter im Jahr 2015 den Bildungsverein Transaidency e. V., der sich auch der humanit\u00e4ren Hilfe widmet. Sie initiierte das Projekt \u201eMake Hummus Not Walls und Build Bridges, Not Barriers\u201c, das sich mit dem Israel-Pal\u00e4stina-Konflikt besch\u00e4ftigt. Nach dem 7. Oktober initiierte sie gemeinsam mit Shai Hoffmann das Projekt Trialoge, bei dem sie deutschlandweit in Schulen mit Sch\u00fcler*innen \u00fcber ihre Gef\u00fchle zum Krieg in Gaza und Israel sprechen.
